Nations Trust Bank Welcomes New Directors to the Board

Nations Trust Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Ms. Sherin Cader, Mr. Chanaka Wickramasuriyaand Mr. Arjun Fernando to its Board of Directors with effect from the 16th and 17th of December 2018 and the 18th of January 2019, respectively.Ms. Sherin& Mr. Arjun will serve in the capacity of Non-Executive directors while Mr. Chanaka will work as an Independent Non-Executive Director. All three are dynamic individuals with a wealth of experience in the financial and investment sectors.

 

Ms. Sherin Cader is the Chief Financial Officer (Designate) of the Financial Services Sector of John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH). She has been with the JKH Group since 1998, serving in many capacities across multiple sectors. She has played diverse roles across finance and operations in Financial Services, IT Enabled Service sector and JKH Centre functions. She functioned as the Financial Controller at John Keells Holdings PLC from 2009 till 2012. Subsequently she took on the role of General Manager - Finance and Planning at Union Assurance PLC until her current role within the financial services sector of JKH. She is a Chartered Accountant from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK)

 

Mr. Chanaka Wickramasuriya is currently the Joint Managing Partner of Ironwood Capital Partners. Prior to that, in 2012, he was the Managing Partner of LR Global Lanka Private Equity Fund and was a Partner and the Global Portfolio Manager of Aureos Capital Limited from 2000 to 2005 and 2009 to 2011, respectively. For the period from 2006 to 2009 he was the Country Head of Fitch Ratings Lanka Limited, Colombo. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute of Charlottesville, USA.

 

Mr. Arjun Fernando is a professional banker with over 30 years’ experience in banking, finance and business administration. He was the Chief Executive Officer/ (Ex-Officio) Director of DFCC Bank from October 2013 to August 2017. During this period, he also functioned as Chairman/Director of many of DFCC’s subsidiaries and was the Bank’s Nominee Director on the Boards of the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Banks Association. He has also served as the Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Sri Lanka, Chief Technology and Services Officer of HSBC Bangladesh and also as Regional Head of Change Delivery, Commercial Banking, Trade& Supply Chain – Asia Pacific of HSBC Hong Kong. He holds an MSc in Management from Clemson University of South Carolina and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (U.K.)
