Island-wide Coastal and Inland Waterway Cleanup Initiatives

As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the bank has launched a series of impactful cleanup initiatives aimed at preserving Sri Lanka’s natural ecosystems.

2024: Island-wide Beach Cleanup

The bank organized a large-scale island-wide beach cleanup across eight coastal locations: Jaffna, Batticaloa, Uswatakeiyawa, Wellawatte, Panadura, Aluthgama, Hikkaduwa, and Weligama.

Over 300 dedicated staff volunteers participated in this initiative, collecting more than 360 bags of waste, which were responsibly handed over to the respective municipal councils for proper disposal.

2025: Expansion to Rivers and Lakes

Building on the success of the previous year, the bank expanded its efforts in 2025 to include rivers and lakes alongside beaches. Led entirely by branch & head office teams from across Sri Lanka, the campaign covered seven beaches, a wetland and two.

These initiatives not only contribute to the protection of Sri Lanka’s natural water bodies but also foster a culture of environmental responsibility among our employees and the wider community.
