Now both Sri Lankans and Foreign nationals can open an account online with NTB, from anywhere in the world. All you have to do is to follow the below mentioned simple process:
*The documents required are as below:
Sri Lankans living in Sri Lanka or working/residing abroad
More Details...
- Duly filled Account Opening Mandate along with the Personal Information Page
- If you have requested for an ATM card, then the Electronic fund transfer form which is attached to the mandate should be filled and signed
- Residing in Sri Lanka
- NIC Copy / Driving License / Passport copy.
- Residing / Working Abroad
- Personal data page of passport.
- Copy of valid visa / resident permit.
- In case of customers who have not obtained dual citizenship, then the personal data page of the foreign passport and other documents to prove that customer was born in Sri Lanka are needed (copy of the birth certificate, NIC or Driving license etc ).
- Utility bill / bank statement / tax assessment / a letter from a public authority to verify the permanent address given on the mandate
- Duly signed With-Holding Tax form (for LKR savings and Fixed Deposits only)
Foreigners residing in Sri Lanka or Abroad

- Banker’s Letter*
You may obtain a letter from your banker in your country and not necessarily from NTB’s correspondent bank/s; however the letter must be on bank’s letter head and include the account number, name, bank and the branch where the account is maintained and duration of the relationship, bank’s SWIFT code and the signature number of the authorized signatory who will place the signature on the letter.

*Customer’s bank should be a Bank acceptable to NTB and upon receipt of the letter; NTB will verify the given information on the letter with your bank.
- SWIFT message from your overseas bank
Instead of the Banker’s letter, you may request your overseas bank where you maintain a Savings / Current account, to send a SWIFT message to Nations Trust Bank confirming your account details maintained with their bank.
